Church Outing to Ayr

Following the success of the previous trips to Pitlochry and York, our Minister Janice decided she would like to show us the delights of her home county of Ayrshire.

We set off early on Wedensday morning and stopped at the McKinnon Woolen Mill on the way to Ayr. Weather wasn't great on arrival but the Horizon hotel on Ayr's promenade was lovely and once the ladies had checked in, the driver kindly dropped us all off outside the main shopping centre. A lovely evening meal and relaxing evening was enjoyed. Thursday was non-stop. First we had a tour of Burn's Cottage, the Auld Alloway Kirkyard and the Brig O'Doon which features in Burn's tale of Tam O'Shanter. Then we were off to Dumfries House, one lady commented that it was like arriving at Downtown Abbey. A lovely lunch was all set out in a beautiful dining room, then we were given an informative tour of the House. Lastly on the way home we stopped off in the Minister's home town of Cumnock and some last minute retail therapy at the Factory Outlet. A great time was had by all. Roll on next year.
