We welcome visitors from Germany

Our  minister Rev Janice Andrews arranged an event on Friday 23rd October 2015 which saw Galston Parish Church & Ahrensfelde Church Berlin along with our Musselburgh Church enjoying a joint visit of fellowship and friendship. She then discovered she couldn't actually be there in person so simply left her image to keep her eye on things.

The day began with Raymond & Bill meeting our guests at the Kelpies to make sure they found their way to Musselburgh. Our German guests  had travelled by bus from Berlin and were being hosted by the Galston Members. On arrival in Musselburgh they were welcomed by Raymond who with the help of the German translator gave them an outline of the format of the day.

As usual the ladies of our church excelled themselves and a lovely buffet lunch was served and they were entertained with music by Cairan. This was followed by a request from our guests to have a walk and see the sea ( fortunately the weather was kind to us) and they all enjoyed a breath of good Musselburgh air.

They were all very keen to see the sanctuary and Keith gave them a short recital on the organ before the group returned to the hall to play the Haggis Drive organised by Pam and the TGI’s which was a great success. The group were mixed ages ranging from 8 years to  some very lively seniors and given the laughter and  noise generated from the tables we were left in no doubt that it had been a great success. The rules were being taken back to Berlin so probably they are playing a “Frankfurter” drive as we speak!!!!

A further request to hear more from Keith saw them  adjourn back into the church after dessert and coffee were served.!!!

President Ann presented the pastor of Ahrensfelde church and Robert from Galston with Prayer Bears and Scottie Dogs made by the outreach Group and Margaret Cavers. She then accepted a tree a gift from both churches which is to be planted at the manse!!!! Any volunteers!!!!!

The evening was rounded off with  some Scottish and German songs and rendering of “Auld Lang Syne”

A GREAT DAY ENJOYED BY ALL !!

SINCERE THANKS TO ALL WHO HELPED MAKE THE DAY A SUCCESS
