Musselburgh Riding of the Marches

Musselburgh Riding of the Marches

The Riding of the Marches is a weeklong civic event which takes place every 21 years. The Congregational Church was delighted to be involved in many aspects of the celebrations. The week began with an Ecumenical Service in St Michael’s Church. Throughout the whole week we had a display showing both the history of the church and its activities today as part of the Musselburgh Life Exhibition.

The town was decorated by many forms of “yarn bombing”. Our Outreach Group contributed to this in many ways but their special display was a net containing knitted fish to represent our fishing community.

The highlight of the week was the civic procession on the Saturday morning. Many months of planning and hard work went into creating the background and costumes for our Sunday School’s float. We were delighted to be awarded first prize for our Egyptian themed Joseph tableau.
